Founded in March 2020 by experienced dog trainer Jamie North and his animal-loving fiance Cassi Hersman, Cape K9 of Cape Coral, Florida started as a passion project that quickly saw success due to high demand for expert dog training services in the Southwest Florida area.

Jamie North has been working with dogs for 20+ years.

Hear his story below.

“In 1999, when my daughter was just 4 years old, I ordered my first working bloodline German Shepherd puppy.  By the time the puppy came, I had met and started working with the training Director of the Peace River Schutzhund Club (PRSC), located in N FT Myers (later relocated to Punta Gorda).  Noel Coward was not just a training Director, he was also an active duty Police K9 Officer for the city of North Port.  It also turned out that Noel was, and still is, one of the most sought after canine instructors.  The PRSC drew many local K9 officers to the training field to work with Noel and their K9 dogs.  Thanks to Noel, I was exposed to and learned how to work with police dogs as a handler and as a decoy.  This taught me the rigors of Schutzhund Obedience Training, tracking, and protection.  My daughter Alyssa, now 25 years old, enjoyed the Schutzhund K9 sport for many years as well.  
I then pursued a career with working dogs, importing and training dogs for obedience , protection, and  security.  In April of 2019 I was working with and living full time at an all breed dog training facility in Punta Gorda Florida.  After 14 months, Covid 19 hit, and I was laid off.  This led my fiancé Cassi and I to open the doors to CAPE K9.  By the end of March 2020, we were up and running.  We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Cape K9 a success from the very beginning!”
